WOMEN’S HEALTH TESTS

WELL WOMAN TEST - £175

Our Well Woman test looks at everything from your risk of heart disease and diabetes to how your major organs are functioning. We include some vital tests for energy, like thyroid function, iron and essential vitamins and minerals, and we take a look at your hormone balance to make sure your levels are where they should be for your stage of life. You can take our Well Woman test at any age (over 18) to help understand your own personal risk factors which you can monitor over time. Key tests include: red and white blood cells, liver health, kidney function, diabetes, iron status, cholesterol, inflammation as well as ferritin, vitamin B12, folate, vitamin D, thyroid function and magnesium. This profile also includes female hormones FSH, LH and oestradiol which are markers for menstruation, fertility and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). This venous blood test (blood drawn from vein in arm) is carried out in your own home (anywhere in the UK) by a qualified nurse at a time to suit you, then sent to the laboratory for detailed analysis and your report along with any recommendations is emailed to you in 3-5 days.

MENOPAUSE CHECK - £95

The menopause can be a difficult time for many women, not just emotionally, but also mentally and physically with symptoms ranging from mood swings and anxiety to fatigue, weight gain and hot flushes. A woman normally reaches menopause around the age of 51, but symptoms can start much earlier and can often be confused for other conditions. This test measures levels of key hormones such as FSH, LH and oestradiol. Levels of FSH rise in women as egg production declines, so it may be used in certain circumstances to assess the likelihood of whether a woman is going through the menopause. Thyroid hormones are also included as menopausal and thyroid symptoms can be similar. It is not uncommon for a thyroid condition to develop in the 40's or 50's so this test can give an insight into whether symptoms are due to menopause, thyroid or both. This finger prick blood test is carried out during your 30 minute appointment in the clinic then sent to the laboratory for detailed analysis and your report is emailed to you along with any recommendations in 2-4 days.

VIRUS & DISEASE TESTING

GLANDULAR FEVER TESTING - £45

Infectious Mononucleosis (IM) is caused by the Epstein-Barr virus, which is a member of the herpes virus family. Symptoms of IM are fever, sore throat, swollen lymph glands and fatigue. Diagnosis of IM (or glandular fever) is made based on the presence of heterophile antibodies. Infectious Mononucleosis heterophile antibodies belong to the IgM class. The MONO Rapid Test Cassette (Whole Blood/Serum/Plasma) is a simple test that utilizes an extract of bovine erythrocytes to qualitatively and selectively detect Infectious Mononucleosis heterophile antibodies in whole blood, serum or plasma in minutes. This finger prick blood test is carried out during your 30 minute consultation in the clinic and results are available immediately.

LYME DISEASE TEST - £95

Lyme disease is a debilitating, infectious disease transmitted by tick bites. This test is the first step to help confirm whether you are infected with Lyme disease. About the size of a pinhead, these ticks are found in woodland and around heathland. If you have been bitten by a tick and haven't removed it within a couple of days, you may be at risk from Lyme disease. A common early sign of infection is a circular, expanding rash which has the appearance of a bull's eye, but this rash doesn't occur in all cases. If left untreated the infection can spread to your joints, heart and even the nervous system. This Elisa finger prick blood test is carried out during your 30 minute consultation in the clinic then sent to the laboratory for detailed analysis and your report is emailed to you in 4-7 days. If a positive test is confirmed then it will be necessary to have the Lyme Disease Western Blot test carried out (£375) which can be arranged in your next consultation.

SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASES - £195

An untreated sexually transmitted disease (STD) can lead to other medical conditions. It can also lead to the spreading of the disease through further sexual intercourse with new partners. That's why it's vital to be checked if you think you have contracted an infection. This blood test checks for many of the most common sexually transmitted diseases in both male and female, including syphilis, chlamydia, gonorrhoea and hepatitis B and C. The test also checks for the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV 1 and 2) the virus that destroys the white blood cells that can fight incoming infections. This finger prick blood test is carried out during your 30 minute consultation in the clinic then your bloods and urine sample are sent to the laboratory for detailed analysis and your report is emailed to you in 3-5 days.

IMMUNOLOGY TESTS

HISTAMINE TESTING - £95

Under normal circumstances, when histamine-rich / histamine-liberating foods are eaten, excess histamine is broken down by specific enzymes and removed from circulation.  One of the main enzymes involved in the breakdown of histamine is diamine oxidase (DAO). If a person is deficient in the DAO enzyme they will be unable to metabolise histamine efficiently.  As a consequence, when histamine-rich / histamine-liberating foods are consumed, excessive amounts of histamine can accumulate in the lungs, skin and colon, primarily. This build-up of histamine can then trigger the onset of symptoms commonly associated with HIT, which can appear very allergy-like. Utilising proven ELISA-based technology, the DAO Screen test offers a convenient and reliable method to detect circulatory levels of DAO in the bloodstream. This finger prick blood test is carried out during your 30 minute appointment in the clinic then sent to the laboratory for detailed analysis and your report is emailed to you along with any recommendations in 15 days.

Excessive sugar in the blood can lead to a number of problems, from nerve damage, kidney failure and blindness to even limb amputation. This is why monitoring blood sugar is so important to diagnose and monitor diabetes. The Diabetes Check measures blood glucose as well as HbA1c (or glycosolated haemoglobin) which is a measure of the amount of sugar in the bloodstream over the previous 8 weeks. This venous blood test (blood drawn from vein in arm) is carried out in your own home (anywhere in the UK) by a qualified nurse at a time to suit you, then sent to the laboratory for detailed analysis and your report along with any recommendations is emailed to you in 2-4 days.

LIVER FUNCTION - £95

Liver Function Tests (LFTs) test for bilirubin and a number of liver enzymes which if raised, can indicate poor liver health. Our Liver Check provides a comprehensive check of liver enzymes such as Gamma GT (GGT), Alanine Transferase (ALT) and Aspartate Transferase (AST) which can be raised if the liver is inflamed or the biliary system is obstructed.  GGT can be raised through bile duct obstruction or, more commonly, through excessive alcohol consumption. ALT is thought to be specific to liver damage whereas AST can also indicate muscle or heart damage. Our Liver Check also includes tests for Kidney Function, Gout and Cholesterol, giving you a comprehensive picture of your organ and metabolic function. This finger prick blood test is carried out during your 30 minute consultation in the clinic then sent to the laboratory for detailed analysis and your report is emailed to you along with any recommendations in 2-5 days.

KIDNEY FUNCTION - £95

The kidneys are one of the most vital organs in your body. They remove all the waste products and excess water from your blood, turning them into urine for you pass safely. This kidney function test is checking for levels of; urea, creatinine, GFR and sodium. Includes liver function for bilirubin, ALP, ALT, CK, and gamma GT. Protein report on total proteins, albumin, globulin. Gout uric acid check. Full Iron status plus cholesterol status with full breakdown of HDL & LDL cholesterol and overall % heart disease risk. MINERAL & VITAMIN TESTING

IRON TEST - £80

A detailed iron test to help identify iron deficiency anaemia or iron overload. Iron deficiency is the most prevalent nutritional problem both in the UK and worldwide. In developed countries, between 10-20% of women of child-bearing age are said to be anaemic. This simple blood test evaluates how much iron you have in your blood, in order to diagnose low iron levels or monitor existing iron deficiency. Raised iron in the blood can indicate iron overload syndrome (haemochromatosis) an inherited condition where your body cannot rid itself of excess iron. This test looks at your abilty to store and transport iron as well as the actual level of iron in your blood. It also contains an inflammation marker (CRP-hs) to provide more insights into a raised ferritin (a measure of iron storage) level. This finger prick blood test is carried out during your 30 minute consultation in the clinic then sent to the laboratory for detailed analysis and your report is emailed to you along with any recommendations in 5-7 days.

FERRITIN TEST £80

Ferritin is a protein found inside cells that stores iron so your body can use it later for, amongst other things, the production of red blood cells. This test can indirectly measure the amount of iron in your blood by calculating the level of ferritin. That's because the amount of ferritin in your blood is directly related to the amount of iron stored in your body. Low ferritin levels indicate iron deficiency. If ferritin levels are low, additional tests including an iron test, TIBC and transferrin test are used to confirm a diagnosis of iron deficiency anaemia. On the other hand high levels of ferritin could indicate you have haemochromatosis (iron overload syndrome) an inherited condition where your body cannot rid itself of iron and therefore it accumulates over time. High ferritin levels are also associated with liver inflammation. This finger prick blood test is carried out during your 30 minute consultation in the clinic and results are emailed within 2-5 days.

VITAMIN D TESTING - £75

There is growing evidence that low levels of circulating Vitamin D may contribute to the development of a wide range of chronic diseases. Maintaining Vitamin D levels protects the body from a wide range of diseases including viruses, cardiovascular disease, bone disease including osteoporosis, rickets and osteomalacia, autoimmune disease (such as multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis), strokes, nervous system disorders (such as Parkinson’s Disease) and type 1 and 2 diabetes. Depression and breast, prostate and colon cancer have also been linked to Vitamin D deficiency.  This test is unsuitable for under 18 year olds. This finger prick blood test is carried out during your 30 minute consultation in the clinic then sent to the laboratory for detailed analysis and your report is emailed to you along with any recommendations in 7-10 days.

VITAMIN B12 TESTING - £75

A vitamin B12 blood test can help with the diagnosis of the cause of nerve damage, nutritional status, anaemia and effectiveness of folate deficiency therapy. This test is for people looking to establish their levels of active vitamin B12. In particular it is essential for people who do not get any vitamin B12 in their diets e.g. vegans and some vegetarians as well as elderly people who are at greater risk of deficiency. This finger prick blood test is carried out during your 30 minute clinic appointment then sent to the laboratory for detailed analysis and your personalised report is emailed to you along with any recommendations in 2-5 days.

MINERAL TESTING - £220

Minerals are essential to the functioning of the entire body. This test checks levels of Iron, Chromium, Copper, Magnesium, Manganese (serum) and Zinc. This venous blood test (blood drawn from vein in arm) is carried out in your own home (anywhere in the UK) by a qualified nurse at a time to suit you, then sent to the laboratory for detailed analysis and your report along with any recommendations is emailed to you in 7-10 days.

MENS HEALTH TESTS

PSA TEST - £105

This blood test measures the level of PSA (prostate specific antigen) in the blood. PSA can be elevated in cases of prostate cancer. Prostate Specific Antigen or PSA test is a recognised screening test for men over the age of 50 or men over the age of 45 if they havea family history or have a raised risk of prostate cancer. PSA can be elevated in cases of prostate cancer but can also be raised in benign prostate conditions. This finger prick blood test is carried out during your 30 minute consultation in the clinic then sent to the laboratory for detailed analysis and your report along with any recommendations is emailed to you in 3-5 days.

WELL MAN TEST - £180

Key tests include: red blood cells, white blood cells, liver health, kidney function, bone health, diabetes, iron status, cholesterol, inflammation as well as ferritin, vitamin B12, folate, vitamin D, thyroid function and magnesium. This profile also includes a test for testosterone, a male hormone essential for libido, fertility and building muscle mass. This venous blood test (blood drawn from vein in arm) is carried out in your own home (anywhere in the UK) by a qualified nurse at a time to suit you, then sent to the laboratory for detailed analysis and your report along with any recommendations is emailed to you in 3-5 days.

FATIGUE TESTS

ADRENAL TESTING - £110

What are the symptoms of adrenal insufficiency/fatigue?• Low energy • Craving salty foods • Brain Fog • Poor sleep quality • Difficulty waking • Low libido • Reliance on caffeine • Weakened Immunity • Inability to handle stress • Central weight gain. In response to physiological or psychological stress, the adrenal glands should release appropriate levels of the necessary hormones to cope, however poor adrenal function can inhibit an individual’s ability to do so effectively. The Adrenal Function Profile uses a convenient salivary sample collection method, to assess an individual’s 24 hour cyclic cortisol levels and pinpoint the important cortisol surge. Also included are a morning and evening DHEA measurement, to enable the hugely significant Cortisol/DHEA ratio to be identified. This saliva collection kit is posted to you with instructions. When you have collected the required saliva samples, you just post them back to the laboratory in the free mail-safe container. Your report is emailed to you in 15 days. Should you wish to discuss your results after your test please arrange for a follow up consultation. This item can also be ordered through our shop here

TIREDNESS & FATIGUE TEST - £170

Feeling tired all the time is one of the most common reasons why people visit their doctor, but sometimes finding out the reasons for your symptoms can be a journey of trial and error. This advanced fatigue profile aims to get to the cause of low energy levels by looking at many of the common causes of fatigue. Often fatigue is caused by anaemia, either from iron deficiency or because of low levels of vitamin B12 which is essential for the creation of normal red blood cells. This profile checks your iron status, active vitamin B12 and folate levels and also takes a detailed look at your red blood cells to make sure that they show no signs of anaemia. We also look at your white blood cells to check that infection or inflammation is not contributing to your symptoms, as well as vitamin D deficiency, a very common cause of low energy and aches and pains. Finally, we look at your diabetes risk and thyroid function to make sure that an underactive thyroid is not behind your symptoms.  This venous blood test (blood drawn from vein in arm) is carried out in your own home (anywhere in the UK) by a qualified nurse at a time to suit you, then sent to the laboratory for detailed analysis and your report along with any recommendations is emailed to you in 3-5 days.

GUT HEALTH & BOWEL TESTING

LEAKY GUT SYNDROME TEST - £95

The protein molecule zonulin is a suitable marker to measure the permeability of the intestinal mucosa. Zonulin regulates the exchange of fluid, macromolecules and leukocytes between bloodstream and intestinal lumen. This test analyses the values of the protein molecule Zonulin, giving you information about the zonulin concentration in your gut. This value plays an important role in diagnosing "Leaky Gut Syndrome", as it gives an indication of the gut permeability. This stool collection kit is collected from the clinic or posted to you, with instructions for use at home or can be posted to you directly. Results take 3 weeks and reports are sent via email.

INFLAMMATORY BOWEL DISEASE (IBD) - £45

Faecal calprotectin is a substance that is released into the intestines in excess when there is any inflammation there. Its presence can mean a person has an inflammatory bowel disease such as Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis. Inflammatory bowel diseases are considered autoimmune diseases, in which the body’s own immune system attacks elements of the digestive system. Both Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are chronic (long-term) diseases that involve inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract (gut). Many people with irritable bowel syndrome have unnecessary invasive hospital investigations before their condition is diagnosed. Using faecal calprotectin testing will mean most people with irritable bowel syndrome will be diagnosed without the need for these investigations. You will be asked to bring in a stool sample into clinic and results are provided immediately in your 30 minute appointment time.

CANDIDA TESTING - £95

Candida is a yeast-like fungus that is normally present on the skin and in mucous membranes such as the vagina, mouth, or rectum. It is also a normal inhabitant of the human gut. However, when a person becomes dysbiotic, Candida can morph to become a pathogenic (injurious) invasive fungus and give rise to fatigue, weakness, muscle & joint aches, headaches, feeling of being "hung over", gastrointestinal disturbances - diarrhea, constipation, nausea, bloating after eating, psychological disturbances - depression, anxiety, irritability, mood swings, cognitive dysfunction - poor memory, lack of concentration, recurrent vaginitis, menstrual disturbances and infertility, allergies, skin irritations/rashes/acne, recurrent throat/ear infections and hypoglycemia.
