Ginkgo's potential as a preventative for age-related memory loss has been the focus of a great deal of research of late as it has previously been shown that it may help maintain memory in the short-term. Refreshall® is a high potency product that, at two tablets daily, provides the full 6000mg of ginkgo that studies have confirmed as an effective dose.
We use the highest quality ginkgo extract available as we insist on a raw material that has low levels of a naturally occurring, but unwanted compound, called ginkolic acid. No other company in the UK insists on this grade, but in Germany only this grade is permitted.
Ginkgo is the herb most associated with memory thanks to it's gentle vasodilator effect which is thought to improve the flow of blood, and therefore oxygen and nutrients, to the brain. Three other herbs that have been linked to memory, lemon balm, sage and rosemary all have been included in Refreshall®. Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis) in particular has a long history of use, primarily as a relaxant but recent studies have also identified it may help improve attention and memory.
