FAQs:
Q. What does a genetic plant-based test tell you?
70 Genetic Markers: The test analyses 70 evidence-based genetic variants linked to nutrition, metabolism, and lifestyle.
Nutrient Metabolism: It identifies how your body processes key nutrients that can be challenging to manage on plant-based diets, such as Vitamin B12, Iron, Vitamin D, Omega-3 fats, and Calcium.
Food Sensitivities: Includes screening for genetic predispositions to lactose intolerance and gluten sensitivity.
Cardiometabolic Health: Reports on how your genes respond to sodium, caffeine, and saturated fats to manage heart health.
Prevention of Deficiencies: Helps target specific plant-based supplements rather than taking a general multivitamin.
A genetic Plant-Based test offers data on potential vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Here is a list of some of what this DNA test will show you:
Vitamin A - Could you be deficient?
Vitamin B12 - How much do you need? Standard B12 or Methylcobalamin - should you be taking methylated vitamins?
Vitamin B9 - Folate or folic acid ? Check out your MTHFR gene to find out if you require methylfolate.
Vitamin C - Do you have a risk of deficiency?
Vitamin D - Are you at increased risk for low circulating levels?
Vitamin E - Variations in the COMT gene may modify the way individuals respond to vitamin E supplementation.
Choline - Needed for memory, mood, and muscle control - find out if you need to supplement.
Calcium - Dietary calcium is important for growth, maintenance and repair of bone tissue
Iron - Could you suffer with high iron overload or low iron disposition?

Q. When will I get my results and personalised genetic plant-based test interpretation?
Once you have ordered via our website you will receive an email notification when your kit has been shipped via FedEx with a tracking number. Please allow 2–3 working days for your kit to arrive in the UK. You can then freepost your sample back via Royal Mail 1st class (UK only). USA, Australia, and Canada orders include prepaid return envelopes. All other international orders require you to arrange return courier postage.
Once we receive your sample, we’ll confirm it via email. Your genotyping takes around 3 weeks. Results will be emailed to you with either a link to book your Zoom call or your written report.
If you opted for a printed copy of your results, you’ll receive a personalised A4 glossy brochure about 2 weeks after your PDF is sent.
Q. How do I take a genetic plant-based test?
How do you test for methylation in the UK? The test is a simple, non-invasive oral sample (cheek swab). The only requirement is to make sure that you do not eat, drink, smoke, chew gum or brush your teeth for 30 minutes prior to collecting the sample. We recommend rinsing your mouth with water 30 minutes before providing your sample to remove any food particles. Any lip balm should be wiped off before providing the sample. Hold the swab head under your tongue for 20 seconds and then the swab head should be rubbed firmly against the inside of each cheek for at least 20 seconds to scrape off as many skin cells as possible. There are no special storage or transport requirements and you can return any day of the week. You can take this test at any time of day, there is no need to stop taking medications or supplements prior to taking your sample. As long as cheek swabs are stored in the dry pouch with the desiccant that is provided with the buccal swab kit, samples remain viable for up to 6 months.
Q. I live overseas, can I get this genetic plant-based test kit shipped to me?
Orders OUTSIDE UK, USA, AUSTRALIA & CANADA - Yes, we can now ship this test all over the world (with the exception of China, India, Mexico, Costa Rica, Iran, Lebanon and Russia). Please select your country at checkout. We use FedEx to deliver our kits, tracking is provided and deliveries usually arrive in 3-4 working days. The test kits are declared as '$2 per kit value' and usually (90% of the time) do not require customs import fees. However, some destination country customs agents may decide (unfortunately, it does seem to be at the discretion of the individual agent) to apply charges, and this is beyond our control and beyond the control of the courier. In the unlikely event this happens, your courier will notify you if an import fee is due before delivering to you. If you are contacted by customs, you should declare the package value as being $2 per test kit which will match the official lab document for a cotton bud swab. We can provide you with a copy of the commercial invoice, if required. We provide approved packaging for the return of the sample, but OUTSIDE UK, USA, AUSTRALIA & CANADA you are responsible for arranging and paying for return postage. All lab reports are provided in English.
Q. I live in UK, USA, Canada, Australia but want to return my sample via courier – can I do this?

No — the genetic code is fixed and not affected by illness, infections, medications, food or supplements. Please list any medications or supplements on your patient form. If you're already taking the right supplements for your genes, we’ll confirm that. If anything is missing, we’ll provide recommendations and dosage.

Q. Is it worth getting a genetic plant-based test?
Yes — preventative healthcare is the future and your DNA never changes, so you only need this test once. Identifying predispositions to require more of specific vitamins or nutrients can help your body perform optimally. A methylation test can be especially insightful for concerns such as fatigue, cardiovascular health, mood, weight management, cholesterol and blood pressure. As a guide, a comprehensive methylation DNA test with expert support is typically around £375. People choose methylation testing to make proactive, personalised choices for their long-term health.
Q. Should I get my children a genetic plant-based DNA test or will they have the same genes as me?
The plant-based DNA test is a simple, non-invasive cheek swab suitable for any age. Every person’s genetics are unique; children inherit variants from both parents, so they will not have identical gene mutations. Genes are set from birth, so you only need to do this test once in your lifetime and the variant data remains valid for life.
