Exposed to mould and now feeling unwell? Chronic undiagnosed illnesses can sometimes be tracked back to mould exposure, often found in your own home. Toxic mould exposure is connected to long-term symptoms such as skin rashes, insomnia, memory loss, trouble concentrating and confusion. Mould illness can be the underlying trigger to depression and anxiety and can even lead to muscle cramps, numbness in extremities, light sensitivity and hair loss. Once you have identified if you have a mould illness it is important to treat the mould with a detoxification protocol.

Fungi are able to grow on almost any surface, especially if the environment is warm and wet. Inner wall materials of buildings, wall paper, fiber glass insulation, ceiling tiles, and gypsum support are all good surfaces for fungi to colonise. These fungi then release mycotoxins into the environment causing symptoms of many different chronic diseases. This urine profile identifies mycotoxin exposures and provides recommendations for detoxification treatments that have been shown to be effective.

Please note Mosaic Labs is the new name for Great Plains Laboratory

How it Works;

  1. This urine screen kit is posted to you from the UK within 24-48 hours of ordering so you should receive your test kit within a few days via the Royal Mail tracked service.

  2. The kit comes with full instructions on urine collection and storage. We recommend you take your sample first thing in the morning. The sample comes with a freezer bag. Please freeze your sample for a minimum of 4 hours before you send it back.

  3. You can then arrange for UPS to collect your sample (you can book this online the day before) or you can take your sample to a UPS drop off point. Both options are free and both are explained in your pack. Your sample is then sent free post overnight in the UPS envelope to London.

  4. Once in London your sample is deep frozen and flown overnight to the Great Plains Labs at our cost.

  5. When we receive your results back from Great Plains Laboratory in the USA (approx 3 weeks) we will email you your PDF report along with our functional medicine advice to support your recovery. Our team have been working with mould illnesses for some years and are specialist in clearing any moulds found in your system.

FAQs:

  1. Are there any other costs to pay?

Within your test collection kit, we provide you with a free post UPS label and specialist chilled packing bag to return your completed specimen. There are no other costs for you to pay.

  2. How much urine is required?

Specimen requirements are 10 mL of your first morning urine before food or drink is consumed. Fasting for 12 hours prior to taking your sample increases the excretion of mycotoxins from the adipose tissue thereby giving us the most accurate reading. For instructions on taking sample click HERE - for returning your sample click HERE

  3. I go to the toilet several times in the night - will this make a difference?

The reason we ask for your first morning urine is that it is normally the most concentrated sample and has the highest PPM (parts per million). If you have bladder issues we suggest picking another time in the day but minimum requirements for an accurate result is 3 hours between urination.

  4. Do I need to use a sauna or exercise before taking the sample to increase sweat production?

No. Mould illnesses can leave patients very unwell and therefore the high level of sensitivity in the testing procedure means this testing is suitable for all patients including those who are bed bound.

  5. Do I need to take any supplements or stop any before taking the test?

Avoid glutathione and binders such as charcoal or bentonite clay for 72 hours prior to taking your sample. The reason we use Great Plains is for the high levels of sensitivity of their equipment. When you order testing through our website you will be asked to complete a form highlighting which supplements and medications you take so our functional medicine team know what your current protocol is and can advise / adjust as required.

  6. How will I know if my sample is good enough for an accurate reading?

Great Plains are the best labs in the world for this type of testing. They will immediately reject any samples not dense enough for testing and let us know. If this is the case we will send you another test kit.

  7. Will this testing help my symptoms?

After many years successfully treating patients with mould illnesses we are confident we can help. When ordering through us we will ask you to complete a form highlighting your symptoms as every patient is treated individually with a unique protocol.

  8. What will my report look like and what exactly will it test for?

Sample report can be found HERE and further information can be found here

  9. Is there an age limit for this testing?

No although we recommend not starting testing on children under 2. If the patient is young or incontinent then you may need to manually retrieve a sample via potty / bed pan.

  10. I can’t see any mould in my home but I am unwell and all testing through conventional medicine has come up blank!

This testing is not available under the NHS and sadly many chronically ill patients are left untreated when conventional medicine testing comes back clear. Mould can be present in your home without it being visible so if you do test positive for mould we will recommend an expert to come and conduct detailed testing of your home.

  11. I can see mould in my home but I am the only person who is sick. Why are none of the rest of my family affected?

There is still not enough research into mould illness however what we do know is that some patients do not detoxify moulds well. This can be through poor detoxification pathways or genetic variants. You can investigate detoxification pathways with genetic testing - details can be found HERE

  12. I have been on the Great Plains website and it is much more expensive to order directly from them - why is that?

The Great Plains Lab is based in the USA and therefore shipping costs and international charges make this test much more expensive if you buy directly from them. All our Great Plains kits are kept in the UK so we can ship them to you quickly and due to the volume of the tests we order we can keep the cost lower.

  13. Which mycotoxins are coverd in your test?

Aflatoxin-M1, Ochratoxin A, Gliotoxin, Sterigmatocystin, Mycophenolic Acid, Roridin E, Verrucarin A, Enniatin B, Zearalenone, Citrinin < 25 (Dihydrocitrinone DHC)

If you have any questions not covered above please do email us at info@mybodyfabulous.co.uk - we are here to help.
