MycoToxin Panel - RealTime Labs - Urine Test
The MycoToxin Panel by RealTime Labs is a comprehensive urine-based laboratory test that measures mycotoxins, toxic compounds produced by mould, that pose health risks in water-damaged environments. The MycoToxin Panel detects 16 mycotoxins, including potent macrocyclic trichothecenes like those from Stachybotrys mold, prevalent in contaminated buildings.
✅ Early detection aids in mitigating health risks associated with exposure to these toxins.
✅ Supports suspected exposure to water-damaged buildings or mould-related illnesses
You will be asked to fill out a patient form at checkout which will give us more information on your symptoms, current diet / lifestyle, medications and supplement intake. If you are ordering multiple tests for patients in the same household please add quantity as 1 for each test so we get full patient history for each person.

Q. What's the process?
This urine screen kit is posted to you from the UK within 24-48 hours of ordering so you should receive your test kit within a few days via DHL.
The kit comes with full instructions on urine collection and storage. We recommend you take your sample first thing in the morning. The sample comes with a freezer bag. Please freeze your sample for a minimum of 4-6 hours before you send it back.
The sample must be shipped within 48 hours of collection. It is recommend collecting your sample on Monday or Tuesday and returning it the same day after freezing, or the next day.
When we receive your results back from the laboratory (approx 3 weeks) we will email you your PDF report and, if you have chosen a support package, you will also receive our functional medicine advice to support your recovery. Our team have been working with mould illnesses for some years and are specialist in clearing any moulds found in your system.
If you are ordering from outside the UK we will ship via DHL or Fedex with return labels.
Q. How much urine is required for a urine mycotoxin test?
Fill the collection tube to between the 7 ml and 9 ml markers of your first morning urine before food or drink is consumed. Fasting for 12 hours prior to taking your sample increases the excretion of mycotoxins from the adipose tissue, thereby giving us the most accurate reading.
Q. I go to the toilet several times in the night - will this make a difference?
The reason we ask for your first morning urine is that it is normally the most concentrated sample and has the highest PPM (parts per million). If you have bladder issues, we suggest picking another time in the day, but a minimum requirement for an accurate result is 3 hours between urination.
Q. Do I need to use a sauna or exercise before taking the sample to increase sweat production?
No. Mould illnesses can leave patients very unwell, and the high level of sensitivity in the testing procedure means this testing is suitable for all patients including those who are bed bound.
Q. Do I need to take any supplements or stop taking any before taking the Mycotoxin Panel test?
No, you do not need to discontinue taking any supplements or medications before this test. And do not discontinue any medications or supplements without first consulting your healthcare practitioner
Q. What is the difference between the Mycotoxin Panel Test and the Mycotoxin Mould Test
The main difference lies in the number of markers tested, methodology, and specific manufacturer, rather than a fundamental difference in how they are used (both are urine-based assessments for mould toxicity).
Here is the breakdown of the differences:
1. Mycotoxin Panel Test - RealTime Labs
Scope: Tests for 16 of the most common and toxic mycotoxins.
Highlights: Known for detecting high levels of macrocyclic trichothecenes (produced by Stachybotrys or "black mould").
Methodology: Uses ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) technology.
Often combined with ToxDetect Environmental Toxins to find the source of exposure.
2. Mycotoxin Mould Test - Mosaic Diagnostics/ previously Great Plains Labs
Scope: Tests for 11 different mycotoxins.
Highlights: Comprehensive profile designed to guide therapeutic strategy, often used for chronic fatigue, neuro-cognitive issues, and in conjunction with an OAT (Organic Acid Test)
Methodology: Uses liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS).
Features high sensitivity for detecting low levels of fungal toxins, often used for monitoring detoxification progress.
Q. Is there an age limit for this testing?
No, although we recommend not starting testing on children under 2. If the patient is young or incontinent, then you may need to manually retrieve a sample via potty or bed pan.
Q. I can’t see any mould in my home but I am unwell and all testing through conventional medicine has come up blank!
This testing is not available under the NHS and sadly many chronically ill patients are left untreated when conventional medicine testing comes back clear. Mould can be present in your home without it being visible, so if you do test positive for mould we will recommend an expert to come and conduct detailed testing of your home.
Q. I can see mould in my home but I am the only person who is sick. Why are none of the rest of my family affected?
There is still not enough research into mould illness, however what we do know is that some patients do not detoxify moulds well. This can be through poor detoxification pathways or genetic variants. You can investigate detoxification pathways with genetic testing HERE.
